Silly boy

This one was from about 2 weeks ago. Sean was signing until I got the camera out. I did however catching him crossing his eyes for the first time...freaky

Sean LOVES Fresh Beat Band, especially their song "Loco Legs". The other night he told me "mama, look, legs" and did this.

Maddy's 9 month check up

Yea, I know, she's just about 10 months but she was sick at 9 months. I not only have a chunky monkey but a very happy baby. She's 19 lbs 6.5 oz and 29.5 in tall! She just got 1 shot today and didn't even bat an eye. She actually smiled at the nurse as she put the band-aid on. I also gave the doctor a handful of LLL business cards. He told me thanks b/c he has a lot of new moms that have breastfeeding problems and a lot of the time doesn't know how to help them.

1 month

That's how long it's been since the last time Sean nursed. It's very hard to believe. Sean was very attached to nursing...or "cheese" as he called it. I'm very happy with the way weaning happen. I like to call it mama nudged weaning. lol He was ready and I was ready. He just had a hard time realizing that. In the end he never nursed for a long time. It was as if he was just checking if it was still there so I started asking him to wait a little bit. Most of the time he'd forget about it and I wouldn't remind him. Before we knew it, he was only nursing when he woke up in the morning. During this time I began to see how weaning isn't just denying him nursing but more me learning a new way to be a mother. It was an amazing adventure. Four days after the last time he nursed we were standing in line to see Santa. I was holding him and he slid down a little like to get into position to nurse, said "cheese?" and then laughed and straightened himself. It was as if to tell me, "I know it's still there, but I don't need it anymore". Sean's grown up to be such an independent little boy...most of the time. ;) I truly cherished the time we had as a nursing mom and child and I'm looking forward to what's in store for us.

Now, for a look back...

First time nursing- he was still in the hospital after his surgery. He was such a nursing champ!

2009 in review

(Thanks for the idea Aleacia!)

2009 was a busy year. Here's what all happened:

I started a home daycare full time.
I meet some amazing people (doulas and midwives) on my quest to have a natural (water) birth.
Madison, my due date baby, was born! What a wonderful birth that was!
Just a little over a month later, my niece, Laila was born.
I became an accredited LLL leader.
Aleacia became an accredited LLL leader.
We went on vacation in Cape Charles with mom, dad and Justin.
We bought a new car...I became a mini van mom.
Aleacia's second little one, Alexis was born...another due date baby!
We had our 3rd wedding anniversary.
Kandace and Taylor got married.
Sean had his second birthday..a pool party in November no less!
Richard graduated from his apprenticeship.
Sean self weaned (with a little nudge) at 25 months.
Mom and dad moved into the old house.
We had Christmas for the first time in 20 years at my parents' old house.

And of course the joy of watching Sean and Maddy grow. Sean became very independent and his vocabulary soared. Maddy is well on her way from being a baby to being a toddler...crawling, pulling up, waving, clapping.

I can't wait to see what 2010 has in store for us!

Maddy learned to wave today!

We were out to eat tonight and she waved to Granddad. The first video is from then and it was taking with my phone (why the quality isn't too great).

Hello 2010!!

Happy new year!! 2009 wasn't a horrible year but I have a good feeling about 2010. Here are my 2010 resolutions:

1. Spend more one on one time with Sean and Madison
2. Start having date nights with hubby
3. Become a home owner
4. Work out more
5. Learn to quilt
6. Do better at blogging (I did all of last years blogging this morning..thanks to copy and pasting what I posted on FB, FTM and such lol)

This year will be a good year because I learned some VERY important lessons last year. There are some stresses that are easily eliminated from your life. The hard part is figuring out what's worth worrying about and what's not. Another thing is to learn that some people thrive off drama. My dad told me "Don't wrestle with a pig because both of you will get muddy but the pig will enjoy it." It's so true! In 2009 I also learned that no matter how hard you try, you can't get along with everyone. Sometimes the best thing to do is to just walk away and not worry about what is thought of you. You can't make everyone like you no matter how nice you are. I have learned what really matters. My kids are of course my #1 priority. If it's not in their best interest, then forget about it. I also learned that blood does not equal family and family is not limited to blood relations. Family (related and not) is not who is here now but who has always been here and never left. Family is everyday. My family is what matters to me...and you know who you are! Here's to a wonderful 2010!!

Videos of the kids
