Aluminum Foil Painting

Painting on aluminum foil...who would have thought! I found this idea on pinterest not too long ago and the kids really enjoyed it. The pictures just don't do this activity justice...partly b/c I didn't take enough pictures. The in between was when they had the pretty swirls of colors. That's the fun part of painting on foil. The colors swirl together better than on paper. If they had been painting on paper we'd just have brown pieces of paper. Here's what I did capture:

Resist Painting

The kids had fun with an art project this week. It doesn't go with Sean's unit this week so I'm making a separate post for it. I keep seeing resist painting pop up on pinterest and decided to have the kids try it. I taped paper letters on their paper to make their name.

They also painted with a different tool, cotton balls.




Maddy is definitely my little artist. The boys were done pretty quickly. Maddy, on the other hand, was content painting for a long time.

School Days: Painting

This week Sean started a unit based on the book Me on the Map. This unit will continue next week so I am waiting until we are done to post about it. So, instead, here's a couple things I did that included my daycare child.

This week we tried spray bottle painting. It was difficult for Sean and almost impossible for the little ones. Next time I'll have to get different spray bottles.




Yesterday, the little boy I watch brought in The Very Hungry Caterpillar to share so I decided it would be the perfect time to do a craft I've seen.

Bath Paint

We had a pretty lax school week this week so I thought I'd share a project we did. We made homemade bath paint.

It's very simple. Just mix together the following ingredients:

• 1/3 cup liquid soap (I used tear free shampoo in case of accidents)
• 1 tbsp cornstarch
• food coloring

The kids loved it!!


They started out finger painting but the paint wasn't thick enough.


Sponge brushes worked much better!

Sidewalk Paint

Yesterday Moments of Mommyhood posted about homemade sidewalk paint. I thought it sounded like fun so that's what we did today. It's a very easy recipe and I halfed what she made.



We were having off and on rain so we painted the porch instead of the sidewalk.


I love the way it looks like chalk when it dries.


Not surprisingly, blue was the first to go. Actually, it turned into "preschool brown".




Letting the paint drip from the brush was fun too.


Look how neat the drips look!
