Fitness Friday {10.21.2016}

This week I failed with exercise. The only thing I managed to do was go to my dance classes. I did, however, stick to my diet very well. Because of that, I am down 2.4 pounds this week!! I'm almost back down to where I was when I started Eat to Perform (May 2015) and am down 12 pounds since leaving ETP (March 2016). I wish I hadn't wasted my time on that big fail!! 

My dance teacher is working on a workout plan for me...yay because she knows more about that than I do!! Once I get that I will add that to my plan. This weekend though, we are going camping with Sean's cub scout pack. I will do my best with eating but my choices will be more limited and I will not turn down s'mores!! On the other hand, I will be more active so maybe it will even out. We'll see how it goes next Friday! Hopefully I will have more to share then!

What's On My Hook?



  • I'm working on an order of 2 ballerina cats. The first one is white and the second will be gray. These are the cats who they will be based off of. 




  •  I'm also making something for myself. I'm holding off on the vest because I decided I needed a slouch hat for this weekend's camping trip. Here's the pattern I'm using: Moogly Blog: Moroccan Midnight Slouch Hat. I love the colors in the variegated yarn. I think I will use the same colors in the vest.


Projects not started:
-The gray ballerina cat.
-A doll
-A ballerina elephant: 
      this order just came in so I need to find a pattern.

Monday Musings {10.17.2016}

  • Scouts: Watching Sean grow in scouts has been awesome. He has really come out of his shell. Maddy is in her second year of scouts and I'm seeing the same thing happen with her.

  •  Yoga: I've skipped my daily yoga this past week...oops.... I can definitely feel a difference. I need to get back on track.

  •  I've finished a crochet project for myself: this yoga mat bag. My next one will be this Dream Catcher vest: the question is do I use the same colors or change it up??

Fitness Friday {10.14.2016}

Isn't Sam a cutie!? Leg lifts and crunches are his new favorite thing to do. I wish I had his determination.

My fitness journey has been a rollercoaster. ...a rollercoaster that I am so ready to get off of. However, I still have another 15-25 pounds I'd like to lose, I've been trying through trial and error (lots of error it seems) to figure out what works. Unfortunately, diet wise, low carb seems to work the best for me. It sucks, It really does. Carbs are so tasty but I need to do what works, right? That's what I did this past week and today's weigh in revealed 1.6 pounds lost!! Yay!!

The other part of this equation is working out. I actually have not lifted weights in a few weeks. Mostly b/c I'm having a hard time with motivation to get my butt to the gym in the time I have with our crazy schedule. But also because I'm not sure what I should be doing....bodyweight, light weights, or heavy weights....low reps or high reps...mostly weight lifting or mostly cardio...etc. What I have been doing is practicing yoga regularly and doing more cardio (running and walking)....and of course 2 dance classes a week.

This week's plan:
-Continue with the low carb (with a cheat meal once a week)
-Do something active each day: dance class, run, walk, and/or yoga
-Figure out a workout plan

Mommy Moment: Self Care Update

Goooood morning!! ....uh, or should I say afternoon... It seems I've missed blogging.

I recently started vlogging on YouTube. Haven't seen it yet!? Then check it out: Dani's Family!

I love vlogging. The kids really seem to enjoy it as well...they were after all the ones that suggested it first. But I've noticed there's times I want to post something but not really video something.  Or I just want to talk about something and sitting in front of the camera takes too much out of me, I've never been one for public speaking, though I try to push myself. I think a mix of blogging and vlogging might be the solution. So...I'm back!!

Today I am going to blog about a video I posted a week and a half ago. It's one of those sit in front of the camera and talk kind of vlogs. I'm still surprised I did it. There were several takes and a bit of editing. I still think I look and sound awkward but it is what it is. Here it is if you haven't seen it yet:


I'm wondering if anyone else has joined me in this challenge. I'm happy that I've made the decision to make sure I have some time to myself every night. I have only missed 1 day of yoga but that night I still wrote in my journal. I've made headstands and crow as my yoga goals. If you follow me on Instagram you've seen that I've progressed on my headstands a lot. I haven't been practicing crow as much so from no one I am going to alternate which one I practice. Something I've changed since the video is where I practice yoga. I've moved it into my room. I turn out all the lights but my himalayan salt lamp and it's much cozier. I still like using my headphones. They just really help cancel out distractions.

So, anyways, I guess I'll keep this post short and sweet. Till next time; bye bye!
